Arundinaria is the only genus of bamboo truly native to North America, once forming vast canebrakes along the waterways of the Southeast. Native American peoples drew from it not only stems for basketry, arrows, and dwellings, but also credited its root with certain properties in traditional pharmacopoeia.

Precautions

Before you use it

The traditional uses of Arundinaria root are poorly documented in modern herbal medicine literature; caution is called for. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding without the advice of a health professional, because of traditional uses related to women's health mentioned in some sources. Avoid any prolonged or high-dose use without supervision, for lack of sufficient safety data. Seek the advice of a health professional or a qualified herbalist before any use, particularly if undergoing medical treatment.
