Obtaining the plant
Canadian serviceberry is found wild in open woodlands and forest edges in North America, and is sometimes cultivated in Europe as an ornamental or fruit-bearing shrub. Its dried leaves are more rarely encountered at certain herbalists specializing in North American plants.

Leaves are traditionally harvested in spring and early summer, when they are young and bright green, then dried in the shade.
