Please read before use: the information below describes traditional and informational uses — it does not replace the advice of a healthcare professional. In case of doubt, pregnancy, breastfeeding, ongoing treatment, or use in children, seek advice before use.
Enhanced precautions for this plant: Plant with limited scientific study: no precise dosage or safety guarantee can be established with certainty. Internal use should be avoided without the advice of a healthcare professional or experienced herbalist, due to the lack of toxicological data. Should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women and young children, as a precaution. Never use essential oil or concentrated extract without supervision, as the aromatic compounds of this botanical family may be irritating.
Light Infusion — Leaves
Traditional leaf infusion
A few fresh or dried leaves are briefly infused in hot water, well below boiling point, then strained. This preparation, of rare and non-standardized use, should remain occasional and be discussed beforehand with a healthcare professional. Dosage should be validated with a healthcare professional or recognized pharmacopoeia before use.
Compress — Leaves
Crushed leaf compress
Fresh leaves are lightly crushed between the fingers to release their aromatic oils, then applied directly or wrapped in a clean cloth on the affected area. They are removed as soon as the cooling sensation ends or in case of discomfort. Dosage should be validated with a healthcare professional or recognized pharmacopoeia before use.
Where to Find It
Obtaining the plant
Cneoridium is found in the wild on coastal hills and chaparrals of southern California and Baja California, Mexico; it remains absent from French herbalist shops and is practically not cultivated outside its native range.
Harvest Season
