Infusion — Leaves
Traditional lemongrass infusion
Pour simmering water over fresh or dried leaves, crushed to release their fragrance, and steep for about ten minutes covered. Strain before drinking, plain or with a little honey. Approximately 1 to 2 fresh stalks or 2 g of dried leaves per cup, up to 2 to 3 cups per day.
Decoction — Leaves
Decoction for inhalation
Boil a good handful of fresh leaves for a few minutes in water, then remove from heat. Carefully lean over the steaming container with a towel over your head to inhale the vapours for a few minutes. Dosage should be validated with a healthcare professional or recognized pharmacopoeia before use.
Where to find it
Obtaining the plant
Available fresh at Asian markets or in some groceries, in whole stalks, as well as dried in herbalist shops; it also grows easily in pots in mild climates.
Harvest season
When to harvest it
Leaves and stalks can be harvested year-round in warm climates, preferably in the morning, by cutting the most developed stalks at the base.
