Orange Mullein
Verbascum phlomoides
Please read before use: the information provided below describes traditional and informational uses — it does not replace the advice of a healthcare professional. In case of doubt, pregnancy, breastfeeding, ongoing treatment, or use in children, seek advice before use.
Always filter the infusion carefully through a fine cloth or coffee filter, as the fine hairs from the flowers and leaves may irritate the throat if ingested. Never use in case of perforated eardrum or ear discharge without prior medical advice. Not recommended as a substitute for medical advice in case of persistent cough, fever, or worsening respiratory symptoms. As a precaution, avoid prolonged or high-dose use in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and in young children, without consulting a healthcare professional.
Infusion — Dried Flowers
Pectoral mullein flower tea
Pour simmering water over the dried flowers and allow to steep for approximately ten minutes, covered. Filter thoroughly through a fine cloth or coffee filter before drinking, to remove irritating fine hairs. 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried flowers per cup, up to 3 cups per day.
Infused Oil — Fresh Flowers
Flower oil for ear use
Macerate fresh flowers, previously wilted for a few hours, in a vegetable oil in a gentle bain-marie for several hours, then filter carefully. The traditional ear use of this preparation requires the advice of a healthcare professional before use, particularly in children. Dosage should be validated with a healthcare professional or recognized pharmacopoeia before use.
Compress — Dried Flowers and Leaves
Soothing skin poultice
Prepare a concentrated decoction of flowers and leaves, then soak a clean cloth in this liquid while still warm. Apply to the affected area for a few minutes, several times a day as needed. Dosage should be validated with a healthcare professional or recognized pharmacopoeia before use.
