Helichrysum italicum
Please read before use: the information below describes traditional and informational uses — it does not replace the advice of a healthcare professional. In case of doubt, pregnancy, breastfeeding, ongoing treatment, or use in children, seek advice before use.
Enhanced precautions for this plant: Italian everlasting essential oil is highly concentrated and should never be applied undiluted directly to the skin without prior dilution in a carrier oil. Use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women, or in young children, without advice from a healthcare professional. Do not use in case of clotting disorders or in combination with anticoagulant treatments without medical advice, as everlasting is traditionally known for its blood-thinning properties. In case of doubt or prolonged use, consult a pharmacist, physician, or qualified herbalist.
Infusion — Dried flowering tops
Everlasting flower infusion
Pour simmering water over the dried flowers and let steep for about ten minutes covered, then strain. This simple preparation was traditionally consumed to support minor winter ailments. One teaspoon of dried flowers per cup, up to two cups per day.
Infused oil — Fresh or dried flowers
Everlasting oil for local massage
The flowers are macerated for several weeks in a vegetable oil (olive or sunflower) placed in the sun, then filtered. This oil was applied in gentle massage to marked areas or after a minor impact. Professional advice is recommended before any regular use on damaged skin. Dosage should be validated with a healthcare professional or recognized pharmacopoeia before use.
Compress — Dried flowers
Warm everlasting flower compress
Prepare a concentrated decoction of flowers, soak a clean cloth in it, then apply warm to the affected area for external use. This traditional practice was reserved for occasional and localized use. Dosage should be validated with a healthcare professional or recognized pharmacopoeia before use.
